There are many languages spoken in this country, and there is no official language. So yeah, a lot of people refer to him as Presidente. And why no objection to “Barry”?

Past is precedent. We’re not talking about one single incident. We’re talking about a pattern of obstruction since even before day one. The onus is on the Republicans to show they’ve changed, not on anyone else. And based on what they’re saying so far, it doesn’t seem like they even want to do that.

But you sound like you’re optimistic about the Republicans. What do you base that on? Do you have any information about changes in behavior they’re planning to make? It would be great to hear about it.

You crossed a line by adding an extra syllable to Beandocks. For a bit of video reference, here is a classic SNL skit between Richard Pryor and Chevy Chase. Beware, folks, it contains racial language offensive to many. But indie has proven that he can stomach it. And in any case, the video makes a very strong point.

I am merely saying the full reference that Lalo brings up since he wants attention to it.

Posts video links with direct warnings about what you might see there. And now you’re getting precious about slurs? Since you seem to have watched the video (else how would you be able to make a judgment that it’s crude?), what message did you take away from it? As for what I write, do you get offended at the constant dismantling of your arguments?

The vast bulk of my questions are genuine questions, inviting answers. (They’re not demanding them, just inviting them.) The ones that aren’t, clearly aren’t. It says more about you than about me that you read all my questions as “snide and leading.”

The fact is, I get under your skin, and it causes you to lash out and engage in ad hominem attacks rather than the issues at hand. I point this out because it reflects on the arguments you try to make: It undermines them even further than they undermine themselves.

“Actually the tar baby wasn’t about race,”Not in the original story. But it’s been used so frequently as a synonym for the N-word that it is actually just as racist..“Queer” meant strange originally. Then it became an epithet, and then was co-opted by the LGBT community to take the power out of it. That has never happened with “tar baby”, which is stuck at the second step.

Do you require other cartoonists to defend their opinions? And if so,why? I would think that their opinions are pretty straightforward in their work,no defense needed.

Because Lalo is presenting his political cartoons on the family comics page.It is the wrong venue for that.

Actually, that’s up to newspaper editors, not Lalo. But you’ve decided since they won’t listen to you, you’ll vent your spleen here. And what nasty, angry language you use! It reflects much more upon you than it does on Alcaraz. But that’s generally been the case.
