La Cucaracha by Lalo Alcaraz for November 18, 2014

Transcript:
The Beandocks Cuco Rocha: So what's your game plan now, Barry? Presidente Obama: I'm gonna extend a hand to the Republicans. Cuco Rocha: God should have given you a dozen spare hands, sir.
There are many languages spoken in this country, and there is no official language. So yeah, a lot of people refer to him as Presidente. And why no objection to âBarryâ?
Mr. Beanerdocks
Ah, Iâve seen youâve gone full-on with the slur. For someone who has complained about violations of terms of service on this site before, you sure do seem to be pushing that line yourself.
In fact, it is a political indictment before even giving anything a chance.
Not when you listen to what Republicans in Congress are already saying about what they plan to do. Hint: there are a whole lot of âem talking about impeachment. And shutdown. Etc.
yeah, we know about the past
Past is precedent. Weâre not talking about one single incident. Weâre talking about a pattern of obstruction since even before day one. The onus is on the Republicans to show theyâve changed, not on anyone else. And based on what theyâre saying so far, it doesnât seem like they even want to do that.
But you sound like youâre optimistic about the Republicans. What do you base that on? Do you have any information about changes in behavior theyâre planning to make? It would be great to hear about it.
You crossed a line by adding an extra syllable to Beandocks. For a bit of video reference, here is a classic SNL skit between Richard Pryor and Chevy Chase. Beware, folks, it contains racial language offensive to many. But indie has proven that he can stomach it. And in any case, the video makes a very strong point.
I am merely saying the full reference that Lalo brings up since he wants attention to it.
Again, you went full-in and unapologetically with a specific ethnic slur. Not being from that ethnic group, no less. Nice way to keep digging that hole.
And Agrestic herself writes much (and posts crude video links) that personally offends me
Posts video links with direct warnings about what you might see there. And now youâre getting precious about slurs? Since you seem to have watched the video (else how would you be able to make a judgment that itâs crude?), what message did you take away from it? As for what I write, do you get offended at the constant dismantling of your arguments?
Agrestic is a Tar Baby. You know, from Brer Rabbit.
Ah, more racially-charged references.
He asks a question and gets angry that the tar baby doesnât respond
Iâm curious as to how youâve decided my state of mind. Especially as this is something you complain about when folks do it to you.
Her posts simply respond to other posters (she doesnât offer many Comments on her own, except to occasionally chat and offer inane observations
So what youâre saying is that my posts run the gamut. And what do your posts do?
But when someone dangles an opinion in front of her, she pit bulls it to death then sits back and waits for the poor sucker to bite some more.
You seem to be keeping your fangs in this one pretty tenaciously yourself. By the way, did you just refer to yourself as a sucker?
but I refuse to answer her snide and leading questions
The vast bulk of my questions are genuine questions, inviting answers. (Theyâre not demanding them, just inviting them.) The ones that arenât, clearly arenât. It says more about you than about me that you read all my questions as âsnide and leading.â
The fact is, I get under your skin, and it causes you to lash out and engage in ad hominem attacks rather than the issues at hand. I point this out because it reflects on the arguments you try to make: It undermines them even further than they undermine themselves.
âTar is not race-related.Baby is not race-related.â
Try telling this to the Disney Corporation who have refused to re-release Song of the South on the grounds that the content(including the story of Brer Rabbit and the Tarbaby) are considered by the majority of American society to be racist â of course we all know what a bastion of liberalism Disney is
Funny how bush was lauded as the âunitary Presidentâ since he was (allegedly) elected by all the people.Obama was elected twice by a much wider margin and that counts for nothing. And the republican âwaveâ was barely over half of 38% of the electorate and that matters?
âActually the tar baby wasnât about race,âNot in the original story. But itâs been used so frequently as a synonym for the N-word that it is actually just as racist..âQueerâ meant strange originally. Then it became an epithet, and then was co-opted by the LGBT community to take the power out of it. That has never happened with âtar babyâ, which is stuck at the second step.
No matter what you write, however thoughtful and insightful
Please point out, with specifics, what youâve written that is thoughtful and insightful.
any idea that doesnât fall in line with her notions is fair game
Sounds a whole lot like the approach you yourself take, indie.
ignore her personal attacks
You say as you engage in wholesale personal attacks. I suppose if accusing your opponents of doing precisely what you yourself do works for RepublicansâŠ
Do you require other cartoonists to defend their opinions? And if so,why? I would think that their opinions are pretty straightforward in their work,no defense needed.
But my question was,âDo you require other cartoonists to defend their opinions. And if so,why?â Why do you single out Lalo for doing the same thing other political cartoonists do,which is comment via cartoon drawings on notable people and events?
Because Lalo is presenting his political cartoons on the family comics page.It is the wrong venue for that.
Actually, thatâs up to newspaper editors, not Lalo. But youâve decided since they wonât listen to you, youâll vent your spleen here. And what nasty, angry language you use! It reflects much more upon you than it does on Alcaraz. But thatâs generally been the case.

but I still have expressed my opinion
Yes you have. And it includes a clear ethnic slur. And whatâs skewed about what Iâve said?

The usa should have a strong viable Socialist party to the left of the Democratic party.
If the Working Families Party werenât busy getting hoodwinked by Andrew Cuomo, Iâd say they were a start in the right direction.
