The facts brought to the grand jury do indicate that Wilson shouldn’t be a cop anymore, but also proved that sweet 6’6", 280 pound kid wasn’t an “innocent” either. Having been in law enforcement, handling similar situations, but NOT shooting anyone, I can still understand how this guy did screw up, without actually violating protocols. (When an unarmed woman in Portland, OR some time ago was shot over 30 times by cops who “thought” she had a weapon, there were no riots, or months of media coverage nationwide-that idiocy also revealed the cops followed “protocol”, that was on its face, pretty stupid.)
Last week another kid was shot and killed because he pulled a “BB gun”, that cops thought was real. Which is why I do think it’s a really good idea for cops to start wearing cameras, but also why fewer guns on the street, real ones, OR “toys” that look completely REAL, is a good idea as well.
