What’s with the constant Karate costume (alliteration, first thing in the morning)?

I think it’s just a convention invented by the cartoonist. Like Dilbert’s tie or Dick Tracy’s fedora, or Annie’s red hair. In other words, something to distinguish this cartoonist’s product from all the others. I kind of like it. I also think we’re going to watch the belt change color over the years. It’s already purple. I don’t remember it being white or yellow.

I didn’t have anything else to do this morning, so I researched it. I think Patrick started wearing the karate outfit on October 14 of this year. He said he was wearing it so that no-one would mess with him, but he didn’t want to take the lessons. Interestingly, he was wearing a black belt then. He doesn’t wear it again until November 11, where he’s seen with a purple belt. He is seen wearing a tee shirt on November 16, and has worn a karate suit with purple belt ever since. I know, total waste of time, but hey, I’m retired.

Just get her a new apron.
