Good morning Vagabonds. From late Sat. night until tonight my town got 26" of snow. In the past three weeks, the state has gotten six feet of snow with more to come on Thurs through Sun. We are running out of places to put it. I have 3-4 feet in my back yard. At least we are going to have sun today and tomorrow.

Hello folks..The light gets brighter and I can see that it ain’t snowing..That’s a lot of snow down your way Auther, reminds of the mid 70s when Buffalo, NY got buryed and we had deep, deep snow. In Buffalo a lot of cars got left on the Interstates and buryed by snow, there are pictures in the National Geographic showing people digging out their cars with no where to go because the roads were not plowed.I think that was 1975-76, I had my Pinto at the time..Jan, just saw on the news you guys just lost another cassino to demolition, dropped it right in it’s celler hole..Well I’ve done enough talking, see ya in the funny papers..ttfn

    Good Morning, Villagers,

Arthur………..that’s a whole lot of snow!!! How can you go anywhere? Sounds like you could use one of those snow melting devices we saw on the Weather Channel.

Jan………I like the direction they’re putting Thomas in……..kind of giving him “heart”. Well………..only three more episodes left in this season. I do like this program!!!

Another day in the 50’s, but next week we’re supposed to have an Arctic Blast, so it’ll be winter again. :))

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

Mark, the casino that was destroyed this morning used to be Debbie Reynold’s old place. She had her extensive Hollywood memorabilia collection on display there some years ago. It has had about 5 different incarnations, none of which were successful, so they tore it down and will build something more modern in its place. Most cities cherish their history. This one destroys it to make room for more glitz. (Or a soccer stadium.) In fact, the only two really historical places here are the Mormon fort (the original building in the valley) and the Las Vegas springs which used to feed a small river here. The river watered a narrow band of greenery in the middle of the Mojave desert, thus the name “The Meadows” (English for Las Vegas).

Rita, I too liked the way they mellowed Thomas a bit this year. But, as always, he ends up overplaying his hand. The only thing wrong with getting the DVD’s and “watching ahead” is that there is no more until next January. They just started filming season six. Ah, well, I may just have to go back and start the whole thing over again.

The forecast here for the next week is high 70’s and even 80 on Saturday. What happened to winter?

With my free trial of Netflix, I have “discovered” Inspector Morse. I see why he was so popular.

@Teh: Yes you can remove snow from your roof but it’s not a going business. If you have a one story house with a relatively flat roof, or a porch, some people buy a snow rake which is nothing more that a long pole with a large board on the end, like a big hoe, and pull the snow off. They do that to lesson the chance of the roof collapsing which can happen if the snow is very wet. My house has two story’s so for me to do it I would have to climb up a ladder, which I am not about to do.

@Montana Lady: Rita, we do plow the streets so we can drive around. They may be narrower but the main roads are usually pretty cleared. The side streets can be a problem. It all depends on how good a job the snow plow driver did and how fast the snow came down. The main problem in the city is parking until they remove it. When I say it is 3 to 4 feet deep in my yard, that is where it is undisturbed. It is a lot higher along the ends and sides of our driveways and walks because that it where we pile the snow we shovel out. In some spots the pile could be 6 to 7 feet high. What we are getting now is not what we usually get. That’s one thing you get living in New England. If you don’t like the weather, just wait 15 min.

Jan, I like your temps right now but not in the middle of summer.

I’m all dug out right now and just waiting for the next storm. I have an advantage over other people in that I don’t have to go to work.
