Once again, so far, this isn’t in the list of works, by this artist, in Mr. Melcher’s blog. A somewhat enlarged image can be found here (along with several other portraits of her, there, the prior page, and here; perhaps more here).Marie in Red Dress (A.K.A. Portrait of the Artist’s Wife Sewing at a Table, link shows her Wikipedia page) is, as best I can tell, privately owned. She also was an artist. In this (click image for click-to-humongous)
perhaps to commemorate their marriage, she painted him and he painted her. Sadly, the marriage didn’t last. This painting is 0:07 into this video (fullscreen is active) of this artist’s paintingsHis Wikipedia page, list of paintings, and collection (more under Subcategories at each level).Sixth work, by this artist, to appear here.
Interesting, in that her hands appear as they would in a still photo of the time. One has to wonder if artists pictured movement as a blur prior to th advent of photography. I’m sure someone knows the answer to that, I would be interested to know. Thanks!
