I always volunteered for Christmas day. Double time and a half, and not much to do. A big fat pay check and the after Christmas sales.

Well, I’m one of the skeleton staff on Christmas – covering for my whole IT department at City Hall. Unfortunately, since I’m Middle Management, and thus on Salary, no extra $$$ for this girl. No Christmas bonus, either. I’ll wear my elf-green tights and a red dress with an elf hat instead of my usual skirted suit, and probably spend the day on the phones at the ‘Hell Desk’, as I have in the past …

“Why did you turn off my water?” Well, ma’am, try paying your bill more often than every six months and we won’t.

What’s she gonna do on Christmas, spend it with her toxic mom? I’d work for double time any time over that!

Unfortunately, the same applies to many who are unemployed.

I only get time and a half for holidays so I’d be very tempted to take a double pay holiday.

Yes….I have a huge problem with folks wanting a 40 hr paycheck and wanting to work only 20.

I would have jumped at that chance in the 90s (and always worked every holiday that offered extra money). Today, probably not so much.
