How many of us who have ice skated imagined doing that as a little kid? And then had the reality set in of it probably being a bad idea to try after about the 25th time of falling on our backsides? Come to think of it that was never me, the jumping over barrels thing. I more had this picture of speed skating at the Olympics until I realized I could only push off with one leg and would never have been able to compete because of it.
Actually, I remember going to an ice skating rink once when I was in college. Here in Texas, we just can’t imagine it getting cold enough to skate outside.

It would be interesting if they would give the date of the original strips. From the artwork, these appear to be from the very early 50s.

What’s interesting is these are some kind of skates that you cant see when you stand on them.
