I don’t think I am going to be in the middle of this one as I can just “hear” what certain parties will “say!” Have a good rest of the day…

I’ve come to the conclusion that it is best to completely ignore indie. Not even to bother reading his posts, much less reply to them. He is simply a troll, and thrives off people replying to him. You will never see him discuss anything with you in good faith. Thus, I’d invite you to let him type into his echo chamber without giving him the benefit of listening to him. Were he to demonstrate interest in any sort of actual discussion, that would be different. But he’s not, so why engage him at all?

Do you comment on any other strips?

“Born in East LA” comes to mind as a great satire on the Mexican-American experience.

It would be quite interesting to see what would happen if no one bothered to reply to indie at all. He once came up with a term for me, one that he thought would obscure the initial arguably racist term, Tar Baby, by substituting one-for-one a couple of synonyms and coming up with “Pitch Infant.” But if you think about it, indie’s reason for existing on this board is to get folks to reply to him. I’m proposing we not give him the satisfaction.

The tar baby parable didn’t start our as racist. It has become racist though no necessarily to me.

True that it didn’t start out that way, but things do change, and the (largely Disney-created) mythos around this one has made it suspect.

As for indie, I still say let him go play with his billy goats by himself, as the only thing that otherwise feeds him is attention.

Seriously, he’s still talking to Lalo directly.

It’s quite possible Lalo reads the comments section, so addressing him directly wouldn’t be that off-base. Expecting any sort of reply would obviously be another matter altogether.

If he gets mad enough, once in a while, he does.Meantime, if you’re going to stop replying, best to stop mentioning it, also.
