Phoebe: I get it, The tree is pretty and sparkly, like you. But don't be jealous. The tree's not my best friend. Also, my dad didn't chop you with an axe, and he won't put you in the compost next week.
Marigold: Thank him for me.
Phoebe: Will do.
If you live in a cold climate, propping your completely undecorated tree out in the yard somewhere makes a nice little habitat for wintering birds. Sticking in a few treats for them is even better!

Here in southeast Virginia, some trees are used to shore up the sand dunes. Most others get ground into compost.

The state uses old trees for fish habitat in Lake Havasu in Arizona.
