What people don’t understand is that McDonald’s is not selling the best burger – it is selling the most CONSISTENT burger (and fries). That was a remarkable accomplishment. As someone who has traveled (and eaten) all over the world, there are times when I am relieved to spot the golden arches, because I know EXACTLY what I will get. And I know this from eating McD’s across the US, in Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Venezuela, the UK, Slovakia, and other places I can’t recall offhand.
It’s interesting how people who forget that things like corn, tomatoes, and potatoes come from the New World seem to think that only Europeans know how to cook with them.Fried chicken, gumbo, chowder, lobster Newburg, even the Caesar salad are all American.
When I was living in Kansas there was a long-time McDonalds employee who would regularly get confused about the order in which to assemble a Big Mac. Instead of bun-burger-bun-burger-bun about 50% of the time you would get bun-burger-burger-bun-bun. After the first year I stopped trying to point out the problem and started calling it the McKansas Burger.

Americans are from everywhere, so any cuisine is home cooking to some of us. My favorite recipe is; meat, fire.
