How did “Bambi” get to be a bimbo name? In the book and movie, Bambi was male.

Runar - The first example I can remember is from the 1971 James Bond Installment “Diamonds are Forever” Where Bambi and Thumper were two vicious little strumpets that tried to beat the tar out of Sean Connery’s James Bond.

Soon after we were seeing references to Girls named Bambi in many pop cultural settings. And yes, usually they were of the Bimbo persuasion.

Bambi might have been the name of a Playgirl of the month, back in the day.

Not in Playboy, rotts. Follow the link and check.

Probably the most notorious was Bambi Woods.

I have wondered the same thing. It does sound feminine though. I had a college teacher that was named Bambi and she was nice looking, but not a bimbo.

Yeah, my brother in the 60’s had a friend named Bambi. She was cute, but not dumb. I can’t imagine naming your baby girl Bambi in the first place. Of all the names to chose from…..
