My dad graduated high school in 1934, in Osage OK. Right after, he hopped a train to Long Beach. He had already been spending his summers ‘riding the rods’ to avoid being another mouth to feed, of the 4 boys and 3 girls. His brothers were all railroaders like Grandpa; he joined the Marines and went to China.
