Heart: Lots of homework tonight, Dean? Dean: Let's just say I'll be happy when reading assignments are posted online and social studies books are eliminated completely.
It’s strange, with all the electronic resources, kids backpacks are getting bigger and heavier. I don’t get it. I had a cheap, small backpack as a kid, my son needs a superfancy mountain camping backpack to carry all his textbooks around.
My kids don’t get to bring home textbooks now. They have to share them with all the other classes. I’m back in college and have to read all my texts online. I’d much rather have a real book.
In elementary and middle school I was always lugging thick books to and from school (plus a violin). In high school, teachers rarely made us bring our books to class, so I could leave mine at home most of the time. Now, my coworkers’ kids get their assignments posted online (like when I was in college!) and can print off their homework if they leave it at school. Their parents have a login as well, so they can monitor their kids’ grades, too. I wish we had Blackboard.com when I was in grade school…!!
