Cappy Dick ran in the San Antonio paper, so I’d see it when we visited my grandparents’ ranch at Christmas. Uncle Cap’n (a name that was sometimes used in addressing Cap’n Huff’n’puff on Time For Beany) is way more entertaining.
There’s also a swipe at Cappy Dick (go on, guess what I privately called him out of my folks’ hearing) called “Uncle Bunk” in the National Lampoon Sunday Newspaper Parody, back in the 70s. “Make this swell racer! Carve a block of wood into this racing car!!” (No instructions given.) “Boy, is it swell!” (Probably written by Bruce McCall.)
