Boy: Sometimes you just want to tape a map on the wall, throw a dart and go wherever it sticks. Very high on the wall. With a heavy dart and a tired arm.
Frazz: South is still looking good.
That’s how I wound up in Eugene, OR for two wonderful years.(Until the Allergists confirmed that it was NOT a good place for someone with Hayfever to try to live.)
The Oregon coast is nice.In the winter, I’m warmer than the valley inland. In the summer, its cooler here. But, don’t come here to live if you don’t like rain. We get more than our fair share…
Night-Gaunt49: I never thought of anything north of the latitude of Corpus being “south Texas”. You could also mention a Houston summer is 90°F and 90% relative humidity and therefore the British consulate pays a “tropical hardship bonus”. And, as pumaman points implies, there is living under one of the more corrupt state governments around.
Interesting article about the best places to retire — not sure anyone in the real world agrees with this, but it’s still interesting: www.bankrate.com/finance/retirement/best-places-retire-how-state-ranks.aspxYou Oregonians, Oregon rates 50th in the list.
I tried doing that when I was a teen. I had three darts. First dart missed the map and hit the wall, so my first trip would be to the moon. The second dart hit the Atlantic ocean, so my next trip would be a cruise. The third dart bounced off the wall and hit my foot. I stayed put.
I actually like living where there’s a definite “winter.” In fact where I currently live is a good fit, the only drawback is that with the first snow it seems like everyone else takes a “crash course” (pun intended) on how to drive in winter conditions. I’m quite good at winter driving myself.

Like Frazz said once, it all comes down to what 3 months you want to have to stay inside.

But doesn’t March come in like a line . . . of windy poetry?

If you go to far down south it gets cold again (e.g. Antarctica).
