Joe Isn’t it a shame how things like that have become “old and stale”? Scrapbooks, photo albums, give you something real and tangible, right there in front of you, to carry with you whereever ou go.

Joe, I watch those logging and axe men shows every week. I am disappointed when I miss one and have to watch for the rerun.

Hi Jason, Lonewolf, Dry, Joe, Barb, Bjorn and all Meggsie’s mates.

GINGER, how can you not know what a scrapbook is, you are in a most treasured one. Look this way, yes out of the screen.

OK, here’s a scrapbook! On page 1 is you on a pantomime advertising leaflet, next page there you are again, drawn by Jimmy Bancks on a piece of notepaper, with his autograph under you, to delight a child at a party. More pages with you on school blotters, cards with you and Minnie wishing Sunbeamers a Happy Birthday,

You are there on postage stamps, a tag that was on a bush in a nursery identifying it as a Ginger Meggs Bush, envelopes … and much more.

Won’t go on although we are only a few pages into a thick scrapbook. It testifies to the fact you are 81 years old going on 12.

Hope these few words from an oldie have interested you because I need to ask a favour. Can you please tell me what an SMS message is and how you send one.

Must go, the roast chicken needs basting, back again later.

I planned on bequeathing all my 3.5 floppies with photo-corners to my heirs but they stopped making both. Now the photos do look more cracked, yellow and obscured. Remind me once again that archival and storage are somehow not related.

Is there really a ginger blog? Because I can’t make out the next to last word…the one before .com. Or is Jason just playing with us?

Hi Frank Corona. Ginger’s blog is at: gingermeggs.tumblr.com or click on the words ‘official site’ besides today’s strip, then the ‘Ginger Meggs’ block and then ‘VISIT THE NEW BLOG’ in the lower right.

Sunnydog. Count yourself lucky, I put all mine on 5 1/4 floppies that, right now, are out in the garage gathering dust.

If I go to all the trouble of firing up the old steam driven computer beside them and after days of work, transfer them to 3 1/2 floppies, followed by more hours of work on a machine that can read 3 1/2 floppies and also burn CDs, would future generations be able to read them?

My scrapbook remains my scrapbook, no need for any gadgetry to read it up till now, nor will there ever be.

When a computer store states that a particular computer is up to date, they are talking about the hardware & software being the latest on the market, not the fact that you need to run “live” updates for particular programs which includes the windows operating system. Those updates happen all the time when the computer is used. It’s the same as if you don’t use your computer for an extended time. You will have many updates when you turn it back on. I do think they need to explain this better to the customer. They could also ask if the customer would like the updates to be performed at the store in case the customer does not know computers very well.

Updates shmupdates! What a little gift from heaven these computers are to all involved in their manufacture and sales but are a nightmare to the end user. I thought they were going to be the answer to all our overwork but all they do is go wrong while we take on more and more work because they supposedly allow us to.

My Meggsie scrapbooks transcend it all, plain to read, no classes required to show anyone how to open them.

Geez. Gotta hate (and love) the “what’s a…?” conversations when talking about modernized things from their old-fashioned predecessors.

For example: when talking about an iPod, the older generation thinks it’s sort of like an eight-track and then younger generation asks what that is.

i know scrap-booking is huge, at least, when i need to get art supplies, they have a big scrapbooking area it seems to be aimed at mother daughter bonding

Strewth mate, doncha’ know? An ipod is a thing with three legs ‘cept it’s only got one. 8 track’s easy, it’s a 4-lane dual cariage-way road.
