I read somewhere that ticket prices at the movies make up only a small percentage of the theater’s profits due to the high cost of obtaining the actual movie and that concessions form the lion’s share of profits.
@dude: that’s correct. Theaters might not make any money from a movie, it’s the goodies they push.

Theaters also have to deal with insurance regulations.
