    Looking at this strip, it occurs to me that, if there were such a thing as a “Cul de Sac” movie, J.K. Simmons might be perfect as Dad.

    people remember nicknames, they hang around you or come back to haunt you. I remember a particularly nasty gym coach who was known as “Birdman”. He changed schools and taught a lower grade. Brothers and cousins have long memories – the calls of “Birrrrrdman” followed him into retirement. He was so bad that no one was sorry.

    I was wondering whether Petey would wind up bald like his dad. But then I remembered that baldness is supposed to come from the mother’s side. I did have five maternal uncles whose father was really bald, but most of them weren’t.

    Petey, you must understand that Peter was in your shoes thirty years ago (or, actually, vice versa, or something like that: you are in his shoes now) and that you and Dad are practically one and the same—so much so, that you do naturally share “personal private stuff” already….
