Walking between the dangerous forest and the even more dangerous mountains, you arrive at the peaceful shore where the blue ocean awaits your adventurous journey, together. That’s what your painting looks like to me.

I see the sea, I see the forest, and I see the mountains… yes, I need adventures again, I’m feeling old.

Your nautical reference relates to the endless depths within the oceans, universe, & ourselves. Thank you for your hefty praise of my humble writing in your previous installment. I am no threat to you, & countless other major talents because, Je suis amateur.

Too bad my mother wasn’t like that. She was too practical. “Get an office job. It’s security. you’ll get benefits, you get retirement, you’ll be useful.” I was bored out of my skull. She was never happy with the job choices I did make. If we could have afforded it, I might have gone to college to learn something more exciting, like paleontology, marine biology, etc., but I’m sure my mother wouldn’t have liked it either.

Life is a do-it-yourself adventure novel with half of the pages taken out. You get to choose which half.
