I saw a documentary about what would happen to the world if all humans vanished or died. Domestic dogs would be gone in a few months. Cats, on the other hand, would be able to survive on their own.

My cat would live happily at the Purina Feed Company.

Dogs are several thousand more years domesticated than our domestic cat. And cats were used to kill vermin, so their hunting skills are very sharp. Many of the more pampered breeds of cats would not survive but the hard breeds would be able to return to the wild, I think. There are many feral cats now-they do not usually live long-but they do live.

I HATE the cats that are left to roam wild here (and prey on the birds who give me pleasure). If people can’t keep their cats out of the gardens of others and have them neutered, they should not have them. My mother loved cats and I can appreciate them in the homes of others, but birds are more clean and more fun and they stay young and fun for most of their lives. I still miss all the antics of my Umbrella Cockatoo, although there were times… I think I’ve never met a pet who was more fun and had such a great personality.

A well adjusted bird is a treasure. They can play many rolls. Companion, entertainer, playmate, jester, thief, friend and confidant, to name a few. Most people will never know how complex their personalities can be.
