I can think of three fictional characters whose only superpower is invisibility. (Besides the original Invisible Man, there’s The Shadow radio program and Invisible Girl of the Fantastic Four.) I can’t think of any whose only superpower is flight. What would Mighty Mouse be if his only power were flying? He could fly to the scene where help is needed, but when he gets there he’ll only be a mouse. Likewise if Superman were only a man who can fly …
They could rescue cats from trees, but firefighters can do that and they can also put out fires.
They could drop rocks on their enemies from above, but only if their enemies didn’t see them coming and shoot them first. No, I think invisibility would be much more useful – and if you can’t be invisible, be a firefighter.
