Have it on the home phone….which I only use about 2 or 3 times per month. The wife uses it the rest of the time. I have it on my cell phone as well, but never use it…I haven’t ever understood which button to push to accept the call without hanging up on the person I was speaking to. (forget trying to get back to my original call if I ever figure out how to take a call while on ther line). A real delimma for me would be conference call or 3- way call…that one I’ll definately never attempt.
I have it and don’t need it because no one ever calls. I have 450 anytime minutes a month and usually use about 100 of them. When you add the time on my unlimited nights and weekends, I still don’t hit 450-more like 220. And I don’t text either!
I have it and I use it… Not in the way it’s intended to be used however. When I’m talking to someone and I receive another incoming call I take notice of it is and when I’m done with the call I’m on I will return the other call.
The thing I like about my cellphone is whenever I get that other incoming call that person can always leave a voice message while I’m talking I wish the land-line would do that too.
They only time I’ll drop one call to take another is if I’m waiting for Person 1 to call me and Person 2 calls first. Doesn’t happen often, and I always tell 2 “I’ve been waiting for this one, I’ll have to call you back”.
Vigilante - I like it much better on my cell phone than I do my land line, for much the same reason. Shortly after we were married (way before cell phones) my hubby couldn’t get through when he was calling me due to an emergency. He insisted we get call-waiting after that experience. I really hated putting someone on hold, in order to check who was calling, only to find out it was a call I would have ignored otherwise (telemarketer, etc.). At least with the cell phone, I can look to see who the 2nd caller is before I answer, and if I want, I can ignore it and let them leave voice mail. I’d take it off my landline if I could, because anyone who really needs me has both numbers, and will call my cell phone if I don’t answer the landline. However, it comes free with our package.

Have it. Don’t necesarily want it. Find I need it despite myself.
You might find interesting what I found out about Brussels sprouts, several days ago when that worthy vegetable showed up in Wiley’s Dictionary.

It is rude and inconsiderate to use call waiting.
