A Dyson? This I have a hard time believing. Those things than handle commercial traffic for years. When I worked retail we were using one for vacuuming the carpeted areas which see FAR heavier traffic than a house. The vacuum was still in service long after I left and I think right up until the store closed.
Actually The problem with great vacuums like Dyson is that they work too well. They pick up so much dirt and hair. You have to stop and clean the filters and empty the chamber often. At my mother’s house she has thick carpet and had 2 dogs so I would have to use the shop vac first on the entire room. If I didn’t do that I would have to clean and empty the Dyson every 2′ × 4′ including taking apart the power head. As you can tell she isn’t the best house keeper. She would cuss the Dyson saying it was a piece of junk. I would explain that there was nothing wrong with the Dyson it was her dirty floors. She went out and bought a $50.00 vacuum and proclaimed it better then the Dyson because it never clogged. Gee I wonder why.
I sold Electrolux for awhile and they were great. You could go in behind a Kirby, let’s say, and get bagfuls of dust and debris out of the carpet that the Kirby left. I still have my upright from when I worked there in ’92 and it can still outclean any vacuum. :)
