Rob Wilco: So do the voices in your head sound like this?
Answering Machine: Hey buddy, need to talk to you get back to me. BEEP!
Satchel Pooch: Actually that would explain the ringing I've been hearing in my ears as well...
Yep, I have an answering machine as well. Since I am on the board of my condo association, I occasionally get calls about building issues. I prefer having the blinking light alert me when I get home, than to have to answer on my mobile when I am out and about.
i know at least one person with an old school answering machine. he refuses to have a cell phone. of course, he also has a computer & a very active life on-line. i do like contradictory people. never dull
Like many people today, I also have a cell phone plus an answering machine on my land line. I’m the one that pays for phone service, so I use it for MY convenience — not necessarily the convenience of the caller.Fewer than a dozen people have my cell phone number — I carry it so I can make calls when I need to, not so that everyone and their brother can call me 24/7.I use the answering machine to record incoming calls when I’m out — and I get to decide when and if to return the call.Hermit and curmudgeon? Nope, just someone who doesn’t need to be communicating with everybody else every minute of every day.
when I have messages. I have a dumb cell phone that occasionally gets used. Wouldn’t want to be without a landline and an answerer. The older we get, the more we need the reliability.
One better: Not only do I have a landline telephone with an answering machine, but the voice mail on my cell phone is turned off. The no-answer forwarding sends cell calls to my home phone after five rings, so the only thing I have to check is the answering machine.
Another advantage that I have thankfully not had to use recently is being able to check whether my house has lost power while away/evacuated. Just call the home phone and see if the answering machine picks up.
