The ghost of Titanic Captain Edward J. Smith, Charley? Yeah.. My arms got tired and he said he'd be happy to-steer for a while.. What the heck is his problem? Hey, look at that. Look at what?
Yes there is ice at the north pole right now, albeit at lower than usual levels; on the other hand there is record high ice levels at the south pole. go figure.http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/
You’re right, the captain wasn’t on duty. When the ship hit the iceberg the Captain was entertaining his guests at the captain’s table. The whole mess was a group effort, from the Lookouts who didn’t spot the iceberg, to the radio operator who ignored the ice warnings coming over the wireless so he could continue to transmit the “important” messages from the passangers, to the watch officer who took the wrong actions when they spotted the iceberg and tried to avoid it.

There isn’t even ice at the NORTH POLE right now! I really don’t see the harm, and it would bring such joy to the ancient mariner

Charlie, he’s going to make you all into ghosts. That’s what the problem is.
Good morning, Crew!

I think we can count on our laid-back crew to just go with the floe.

Now let’s be fair to the man. He wasn’t on duty when they hit.
