wsmorris: I have seen them called “throwing sticks”. Returning boomerangs are mostly for sport. Those used for hunting were to guide game, not directly kill it – such as driving a flock of birds into a net. The ones used to kill directly are seldom meant to return – you go pick them up when you collect your meat.

I once imagined a bologna Meringue Pie to a secretary inthe office, & she actually made one. Great pie, but needed a bit of mustard!
