How many is “a few” when Elvis toured in Canada?

That’s because Colonel Tom Parker was convinced he [Parker] wouldn’t be allowed back into the States afterwards…

Actually, Elvis Did perform occasionally while in Germany during his Army days. He just didn’t do it as a “Headliner” or sell tickets..His Manager, Tom Parker worked very hard to ensure that Elvis didn’t perform Professionally during his Army stint because any performances while he was in the Army would Legally Belong to the Army and any money from such recordings would go to the Army..An Intolerable idea for Parker.

Whyizzit? So many Elvis sightings, and hardly any Lennon, Morrison or Hendrix sightings? Do the King’s fans have some sort of ESP the others do not?

TEMPLO S.U.D. in answer to your question, Elvis played only 3 concerts in Canada. They were in Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver and all were in 1957!

Part of the problem for Elvis is that the US Army has a “Professional Services” division that Musicians and other performers are assigned to (US Army Band, anyone?) Playing and Recording Music is their Assigned Duty and, as such, all their work becomes a “Work for Hire” product belonging to the Army. The Army had tried very hard to persuade Elvis to allow himself to be assigned to this duty.Elvis Refused and insisted on Other, Non Musical duties. If he had attempted to offer Professional Performances while also in the Army, it would have opened a Huge can of worms. But, he WAS a Singer & Musician, so he Did occasionally play for Fun and Friendship with other soldiers. .
