Not to mention credit card ‘scams and offers from loan companies. I told my wife that I had a way to get rid of all the aforementioned items, she asked why cause if we did we wouldn’t get any mail at all except the electric bill and the cable bill ! ! ! ! !
All my bills have “paid themselves” for going on 20 years so we just get acknowledgements. These days, the USPS wouldn’t be alive, if not for Amazon and eBay. About all we buy at a real store is food, and not even all of that. The postman gets a nice retirement, trash company picks up all the junk mail, and all is well.
@Lassie1 My mother used to get those all the time when I was a kid… She entered everything that came along. I have to say though that she did pretty well on those little contests/lotteries. Never anything big but a hundred or two a few times a year certainly didn’t hurt her pocketbook any.
We still get catalogs and junk mail addressed to previous owners and we’ve lived in this house 37 years! That means somebody has transcribed those mailing lists manually, since that was long before computers. Boggles the mind.

That’d be a horror personally when it comes to the USPS.

Add Comcast to that list.

And it’s going out of business, just like the buggy whip makers when the car was invented. They just don’t know it, yet.

I should do what david_42 did; I’ve switched to AMAC anyway.

When we do get unsolicited “snail mail”, and we do not get much, we shred everything except the postage paid return envelope.
Then we stuff all the shredded crap into this envelope (some times it requires extra squish help) and drop the envelope in the mail box.
The solicitor company has to pay the postage on every return envelope the USPS sends them. It gives us just a tiny bit of satisfaction…
