Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Gâday Jason, Joe, Dry, Barb, Lonewolf and all Meggsie fans.
Still speechless here. This is history in the making.
Speechless for another reason too. I have to tell people I havenât got a mobile phone because I didnât sit for the diploma to learn how to use it. Donât even know what brand it is.
Okay, my guess is that something like Parent Trap is going to happen. Or maybe the parents will get the kids mixed up, as in âGinger, What are you doing with that beret onâ? And the frenchyâs parents âmais oĂč est ton beret??â (Whereâs your hat??) Something like The prince and the Pauper. Am I close, Mr Chatfield? :)
delaterra - excellent instincts, but Iâm afraid though I did write that storyline, I decided against it as it just ran too long (and was a bit tedious after the initial novelty.) THe problem with doing it in a daily strip series is trying to tell a story in very few words and pictures.
The alternate storyline was that John and Sarah accidentally take Pierrot home instead of Ginger. But it became a bit cumbersome.
Searched and found long ago, all the Bluey and Curley (with an âeâ) Annuals. The strip was based on real characters, one of whom I had the privilege of meeting. Fantastic strip. Yes, Bluey was called that because the real person had blazing red hair. He also had very pale blue eyes so he was always drawn with white eyeballs.
Ginger was based on a real person too but that is a much longer story.
Gâday Jason, Joe, usfellers and all Meggsie fans far and wide! Another Parent Trap? Oh that would have been funny, but since Ginger doesnât speak French, his parents surely would have noticed! Speaking of the âParent Trapâ, the first one was one of my favs as a kid! Still is actually. Canât beat Maureen OâHara in anything she does! And for remakes, the second one wasnât all that bad.
Frankly, it looked quite ok to me who can only read a bit of french. At least I got the drift of what Pierrot said. The online translator reckons itâs ok too. http://translation.paralink.com/
Can the online translator be the umpire. It gives: And you look exactly as me.

To me, as someone with a poor understanding of french, the words allowed me to work out what was being said and surely that would be the case for the majority of fans. It allowed me to get on with enjoying todayâs Meggsie without being too troubled by minor points or losing concentration by rushing off to translators or language dictionaries.
Joe said it! Literally translating from one language to another cannot take into account the inflections or body language of the speaker and listener. There is also context to be considered where words can have two or more entirely different meanings.
The looks on Gingerâs and Pierrotâs faces say it all. Even without the words, a reader could take a good guess at what is going on.
Roll on the next panel on Gingerâs trip, canât wait.

Isnât ginger the same as red hair? Me thinks. But that, too, can be dangerous!

Is that a generation gap or a Grand Canyon?
