Alice, it’s going to be a long summer if you’re going to be grumpy every day.

Well it is pretty hard to be cheerful when you are denied the chance to catch a fish-slapping bear!

I’m starting to think that camp doesn’t even HAVE fish slapping bears! What a rip off!

Use your imagination, Alice. Pretend you’re the fish-slapping bear and Petey is the fish.

Wow! Petey actually looks excited, or a least interested, in panel two.

Anyone wonder why Madeleine drives that huge van with just two kids? My family has four kids, and my mum drove us around in a van half that size.

Petey has obviously been witness to (and perhaps collateral damage from) Alice’s tantrums, given his keeping a wary eye on her once he’s strapped in his seat within fish-slapping range.

but it was fish slapping bear camp………..

My wife’s idea of camping is a 4 star hotel(we stay home a lot). She went to camp once when she was a kid – the brocheres showed happy kids on horses. The horse experence was 2 hours long and cost a lot extra – her parents could not afford it.

    Welcome to regular kids’ camp…..
