Dry: Thanks, yes, now catching up after a long (for me) sleep.
ottod: Seriously? Maybe you are joking about your friend in a wheelchair but a friend and I pulled exactly that gag many years ago. As a joke, he bought an antique self-propelled wheelchair that had a small crankhandle at the height of the right armrest and which was connected to the wheel by a chain. It also had a curious twist ringhandle on the left side for steering. Horror of horrors, the chain drive was by a ratchet so the chair could coast dowrnhill. No, I’m dead set serious, but it had a handbrake of sorts!
One day we pulled a gag to worry the neighborhood. We got the wheelchair on the road and he sat in it, catching onto the spare wheel of my vintage car with a walking cane while I towed him up the slight hill. I then lowered him back down by putting the wheelchair in front connected to the car by a towrope. He pretended to tow me downhill by cranking like fury.
It was Keystone Cops stuff but not one neighbor saw us. - the episode has been lost forever.
Ginger really struck a very pleasant note in the current strip.
No, I was serious, usfellers. I knew this fellow in school. There was no good on-campus transportation for folks in chairs, and handicapped parking was a problem too, so when he had to go several blocks (and no one was looking), he’d sometimes roll into the street and grab the bumper of passing cars. One afternoon a week was designated for wheel chair repair.
saw a skateboarding dude hanging on to girlfriend’s scooter like this
she swerved, he pulled off part of the scooter, both got scraped up pretty bad
skateboard was unharmed
Being an Aussie, I was not aware it is your Memorial Day, very similar to our Remembrance Day on November 11. Now understand all your special signs for the day.

G’day Jason and all Meggsie’s mates.
Had to be a short greeting, falling apart here, this one has made my day. The silhouette in the last panel is priceless.
See ya later when I can concentrate better on typing.

ottod: Welcome to the happy gang who still see some fun in life. The spirit of Meggsie is very much alive and well. The current strip speaks volumes.

Usfellers, Memorial Day is actually tomorrow, but we have what we call the Memorial Day weekend. Many make it a three of four day weekend.
Chicago has a Memorial Day parade every year. This year’s was held yesterday in Chicago. Most of the suburban towns also had parades.
