Tia: Gracie, if you're going off to college, you should know how to cook! Gracie: Do you have an extensive, organized recipe collection, Tia Carmen? Tia: Of course! Tia: I learned to cook this dish when I was nine!
I knew how to cook when I went off to college. Starting in my Junior year I had an on-campus apartment and made all my own meals. I found out later that other people in the dorm would walk past my door while I was cooking just so they could smell. Once a month I’d make a lasagnia dinner and invite friends over to eat, it was always a popular meal.
I never understood why parents didn’t want to teach their children how to cook. What did you say?Oh, it was too much trouble to put up with them in the kitchen?Oh.
:-) My mother was a chef. She started as a waitress moved on to cook and finally, a Chef. She taught us all how to cook so she’d have some breathing room once she got home. My older brothers taught their first wives how not to burn water. I suspect that was why they were “first” wives. My brothers were OK in the kitchen but not much for tact. ;-)
