Yep, DVDs in a home theater are much nicer. The ability to pause so you can get more refreshments, or a bathroom break is the major plus. But, even small things like being able to turn on subtitles so you can figure out what someone just said, or rewind a few seconds are all part of the home experience.

DVDs are good for me. I watch them while I exercise.

However I did once avoid the crowds on a popular new release. I went to a matinee on New Years day. Only one other person in the auditorium.

why spend 12 bucks to watch in a theater when you can wait 4 months and rent it for 4 bucks on blu ray?

What was Travoltaā€™s last good movie?

    Pulp Fiction? Get Shorty?

I wouldnā€™t call Pelham a good movie. IT got 52% at Rotten Tomatoes.

    Maybe it was financially successful.

In fact, Travolta averages 48% over his last 19 movies. Awful. And he has a documentary and an animated film propping that number up.

The last time I went to a movie was when Hellboy 2 came out, after a LONG time before that. The movie was ruined not only by the usual nonstop talking and people who canā€™t eat with their mouths closed, but by 5000 cell phone lights all over the theater. I swore Iā€™d never go back. I can wait, especially now that they raised the price of a more than likely crummy movie to what I can pay to buy the thing.

I havenā€™t been to a theater in so long I canā€™t remember exactly how many years it has been. Much better to watch a DVDā€¦ and the local grocery store rents those for $1 so I can watch them cheap enough before making up my mind to buy.

Travolta gets a lot of work for a guy whose films do not seem to perform well when heā€™s the lead, except for Old Dogs which was a good idea poorly executed.
