You are so wrong about fish, and you do a disservice to your readers by perpetuating an old myth that has been disproven by scientific studies over the past decade. In fact, among other fine attributes that fish share with other beings, they have long memories. I suggest you read about fish at http://www.fishfeel.org. In addition, ethologist Jonathan Balcombe is currently writing a book about fishes. He says “There’s some great science on fish cognition that is now coming out, showing that fishes have complex social lives with Machiavellian dynamics.” (http://responsibleeatingandliving.com/favorites/jonathan-balcombe-animals-inner-lives/) and http://www.animalmosaic.org/sentience/inspiration/video/default.aspx?oage=1&sentiencetopic=&globalissue=&date=&video=tcm:46-37290

The notion that fish have a short-term memory has been blown out of the water. Goldfish, for example, have been shown to remember things that occurred at least 3 months ago. Migratory fish remember their way home years later and from thousands of miles away.

It’s harmful to perpetuate this faulty notion as it causes people to think it’s alright to keep fish in tiny bowls and provide them with no mental stimuli, the latter of which they very much need for their well-being. Fish are actually remarkably intelligent and perceptive. Please help promote that truth!
