The Pennys are like a lot of people, “low information,” my son included. If it’s not screamed at them on AM radio, they don’t know it.And alas, poor Burl, someone will have to take him outside at the proper time, turn him in the right direction, hold his head still and tell him every minute what to watch for. Plus keep him awake and have enough snacks. And make sure he has his “blankie,” otherwise he might wet himself, which might happen anyway. The local CBS TV weather guy says that the temp here is going to be progressing from 100 tomorrow thru 104 over the weekend to 106 on Monday. The ABC guy says only 102. I like him better. Both say the heat wave will continue all next week. Ah, August, gotta love it.
Yup yup… a meteor shower is local news.Cos the celestial events are different, three towns away.
Same sort of thinking as when an acquaintance told me she was going to drive a couple of blocks,so the moon would be in a better place relative to a small local mountain, in the picture she was going to take for a photo contest.
No matter. If they did read about and go out to look, their short attention spans would drive them indoors to watch something more suited to their tiny minds at the first 30 second lull in meteor action. .(Of course, it’s the closest they’ll come to a shower of any kind today.)
