Mom: How was your last day at Cartoon Camp? Petey: A bee got in the classroom. Petey: So Mr. Spinnerack let us run around outside in our costumes. Alice: NEXT YEAR I WANT TO GO TO CARTOON CAMP! Petey: But I got overwhelmed by self-consciousness and hid behind the bike rack.

I once got a plastic motor replica for my bike— I thought it was the coolest thing! It took batteries and made a vrooooom! sound, that you could adjust while riding! After a few passes up and down the block, I began to feel mighty self-conscious, took it off, and never used it again.

Cartoon Camp was a success, overall, despite the awkward bee-induced panic: Petey almost had fun in a social setting, and Alice wants to go! Could Dan Spinnerack, who had never had so many as three campers until this year, survive with added Alice next summer?!

I’m pretty sure they all go back to camp the next summer.

Love panel 2 and the way it captures each child’s quirks.Don’t worry about Dan Spinnerack’s ability to cope next summer. Alice will want something else tomorrow.
