i loved it when people said Obama should never be president because he never served; Trump actively ditched service and that’s ok….and now Obama has 6 years military experience, as commander-in-chief

All the war heroes, like Cheney, Nugent, Limbaugh who want to get us into more wars because they are so patriotic as long as someone else in going into the meat grinder.

Maybe Cheney could be v.p. again. Wouldn’t that be great? if Trump were to become pres., I would have to give serious thought to moving to Canada or Mexico or Tahiti.

Tahiti would be good; it would take awhile before the fallout gets to you

esbsn, please don’t move to Mexico. We have enough problem in Mexico with out you. Try Quebec but be sure to learn French first. They do not accept English speaking people there.

Hold on NeedaChuckle , true, it was a Republican , Abraham Lincoln, that got in to the civil war, but then then it was Wilson, a Democrat world war one, Roosevelt world war two, Truman Korea, Kennedy/Johnson, Vietnam and then Bush into Iraq with a majority of Democrats including Hillary Clinton voting for it and then Afghanistan. We are still fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan after almost 8 years of Obama.,

Look, I don’t care for Trump, but student deferments were standard practice until the last few years of the Vietnam war, when we went to a lottery system. The idea was that young men getting a college education were going to benefit the country in other ways. Until probably the ‘80s, it was not assumed everyone would go to college, so those who did go were considered important to the future of the US. Bill Clinton was criticized for burning his draft card when he was a student at Oxford on a Rhodes scholarship, when the likelihood of such a student being drafted was zilch. Dislike Trump for whatever valid reasons there are, but he isn’t a draft dodger, unlike Dubya whose father got him out of overseas service.
