Here’s another ’toon that Wiley probably thought was not about politics. I guess people can interpret most anything as being about politics, these days…

I remember a Far Side with a cat sitting next to a fish tank that had a sign that side piranha on it. The cat’s two front legs were wooden peg legs.

I have no idea if evolution is real or not, and I couldn’t care less.

To me, though, the fossil record doesn’t prove evolution.

    It proves extinction.

And I wonder how much longer before Earth is like Mars – a dead planet.

Better plan, fishes, splash water in the cat’s face, they hate that! Love the detail of the cat’s coat, beautiful

Actually, the strategy would be to kill the cat. The tactic would be evolving to piranha

Human selection isn’t exactly evolutionWell, that’s right. I could make an argument ‘about since humans are natural what we select is…’ but I wouldn’t like what those words would taste like.-A trait’s resulting in a critter having more grand critters is evolution (grand critters because that means its offspring lived long enough to breed). The high producing cows are a short term change. If goats and cows have a common ancestor, well, the divergence took longer than humans have been around.

Try not to use True. Many True things are not factually correct.Often, the facts are the enemy of Truth. It is factually correct to observe that evolution occurs, and that natural selection plays a key role in determination of which life forms occupy any particular niche.Evolution by random mutation or by divine intervention, on the other hand, can neither be observed, nor proven. The observable facts support neither, unless you have directly observed instances where pure will and intention have served to alter the facts of an objective reality, or the transition of one species to another at a genetic level by mutations induced by chance and environment.I know Darwin’s finches come to mind, but there is no evidence of a change enacted at the genetic level, only on a developmental level.
