Kind of like the catcher taunting the batter to swing.

A strike is always called with a visual indication using the Right Hand and Verbal call.A Ball is never indicated with a visual indication only a Verbal call of “Ball” loud enough to be heard by the batter and both dugouts. If a mechanical ball/strike indicator is not used, the ball/strike count is indicated and maintained for Strikes on the Right Hand and for Balls on the Left Hand. The Ump is indicating that is Ball Three since he is showing Baldo his left hand, and he did not Verbalize the pitch as a Strike. If the catcher did drop the ball it would not impact the game in any way, unless it prevented the catcher from throwing out a runner attempting to steal second or third or if Baldo had foul tipped the ball and he already had two strikes. It would then just be a foul ball.Baldo also could run to first on an uncaught third strike with no runner on first base or with two outs.Oh, and Home Plate is installed Backwards. As a Side note: You can technically have infinite foul balls (assuming they go out of the playing field and are not caught). The exception is if there are already 2 strikes and you foul the ball off but it goes right into the catchers mitt. Then you’re out. Also, if they’re are 2 strikes and you attempt a bunt and hit it foul then you are out. Apparently Comicland baseball rules are not the same as those in real life, who knew!
