One of my neighbors hung his dog…… then told the police that the dog was his and he could do anything he wanted to it. The really sad part was that even to this day he does not understand what he did wrong. Not surprisingly, his children steer clear of him. I agree with joefish. If they made animal cruelty as much a felony as murder or manslaughter, you would not want me on the jury, or as a judge. I’d be one of the ones that would try reenact the old ways of punishment. Lethal injection or the chair would be too good for them. I’d believe in Hammurabi’s Code. You hung a dog, so we’ll hang you. You starved a dog to death and kept it chained up outside, well tonight’s special at the jail is roast beef with gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, and homemade buttermilk biscuits. Dessert is a brownie sundae with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, chopped walnuts (can be omitted if you’re allergic), whipped cream, and a cherry. But since you starved that dog to death, all you get is the air around you. We’re also going to chain you to your bed, so the only area you’ll be able to move around to is within 8 feet of the bed. Oh, look - the toilet’s 10 feet away. Tough luck, friend.
If there are two groups of people in the world who don’t deserve to live, freely or otherwise, it’s those who abuse children, and those who abuse animals.
I agree with Joefish and Patrick. We were given stewardship over this Earth - I can hardly wait to see what animal and child abusers think when they get their judgement…
Normally, such blatant proselytizing in a comic strip would make me uncomfortable and annoyed…except, man, once again, I totally agree with the sentiment! I see that kind of bleeep WAY too often and it makes me sick! Plus, as I’ve said before, Momma is sanctimonious, outspoken, opinionated - and sometimes right! So I believe she’d say something like this.
