My youngest liked the taste of soap….and margarine. I would find teeth marks in both at regular intervals. Telling her not to do it and that it could make her sick didn’t stop her so I moved both the soap and margarine to a higher shelf.
My parents use to say if we would swear they would wash our mouths out with soap, one time I was angry and swore and my mom said wash your mouth out, handed me a bar of soap and to her complete surprise I chewed on it and swallowed chunks of it. I terrified her into thinking I might get poisoned or sick from doing it.
That was the last time I ever had to wash my mouth out with soap, I did get very sick almost went to the ER but instead it became a ‘cleanse’ and going forward swearing changed to getting the paddle instead.

Ooh, tiny bubbles. But I don’t think they’re the type that Don Ho sang about.

Constipation was not uncommon for new recruits in Marine boot camp. The remedy was to drink some Wisk.

I remember accidentally brushing my teeth with my brother’s Brylcreme back in the 1950’s. Nasty stuff, that.

When I was little I tried to mix the last of the Scope with soap. I thought it would work because they were both green.
