if i were a sleazy guy i would use my ‘if i were you, i’d tell my friends about me’ line ALL THE TIME. i’d have it printed on business cards! i’d hand them out to women i just met while stealing sips of their drinks.
I used to work with a woman whose goal in life had been to get married, have children, and then to have grandchildren.By age 35, she had her first grandchild (her son’s child), her husband had left her for the teenager he’d knocked up, her teenage daughter was the town pump, and she was just scraping by working as a waitress. She’d achieved the goals she’d set herself, and her life was a wreck. That’s why the marriage/homemaker/mom career path isn’t really a career path. It’s just what happens, usually.
I suppose this just goes to show how…“old fashioned” my home town is, because this is the common goal of most of the ladies around here. Personally, I don’t have anything against it, as long as they’re happy and satisfied in the end, which I think is what’s most important. And there’s something to be said by keeping your life expectations…simple…like that.
