Alice: Now, Mom? Now? Mom: No, I haven't put the Halloween candy away yet. Alice: Now? CAN I OPEN MY EYES NOW? Mom: No! It's bad luck to see the candy before Halloween! Dad: You're a mean lady. Mom: It's Halloween! There should be more superstitions for Halloween! Alice: MOM! HOW ABOUT NOW? Mom: Okay! You can open your eyes now! Alice: Good, cause I already did.

Alice is a typical four-year-old in this regard. It’s similar to wanting to stay up to see Santa at Christmas or to get up super-early Christmas morning.Very nice family scene….

If Alice doesn’t know how much candy there is or where it’s hidden, then she won’t notice when some disappears before Halloween.

I like the idea of inventing more superstitions for every holiday. Like if you don’t send thank-you letters to relatives for gifts, you will be bitten by a dog.
