It does look more like a VHS flap than a DVD tray. And the TV is very square looking too. Is this an old rerun or are they just so out of date with the electronics in that house? The only reason I doubt that might be a VCR is that the display isn’t flashing 12:00 on it. :)
Before there were IR remotes, there were ultrasonic remotes. My brother had one with his first TV. You could also change the channel by jingling your keys in your pocket.
I remember our first VCR that had a “remote control” which had no batteries because it was physically connected with a twelve foot wire. Couldn’t sit too far back and still control it. Another person mentioned audio remotes: I could change the TV channels with a harmonica on one of our old ones.

So….will you be returning it with a little interest through back channels, Satch? By then it will match the quality of many TV shows!

Copyright date between the panels is 2007. But how did they get an infrared remote to work in his tummy? There were no wifi remotes.

I sincerely hope that HG2TG refers to the TV series, not the movie.

“borrowed it internally” – superb euphemism.

I’m surprised he hadn’t eaten the TV too.
