Since you already know whether your intentions are of danger to yourself, there is no relief reaction, ergo, no laughter.

I could never tickle myself either. Yet I’m quite ticklish.

This is wrong, or a myth. I’ve ALWAYS been able to tickle myself. Which can be very annoying if you try to scratch an itch in the wrong spot.
