    I’ve hiked the Superstition Mountains before. But saw nary a black cat nor a ladder. But it wasn’t Friday the 13th and the moon wasn’t full. Perhaps it’s different then.

    It, too, have hiked the Superstitions, quite a few times. I never did see a drop-off quite as precarious as that. But the drawing of the vegetation is pretty much spot-on.

    So it’s close to Apache Junction, and just east of the Phoenix metropolitan area? I don’t remember my relatives living in that area ever mention the Superstitions, although some cousins did move from Tempe or Mesa to Gilbert; they were moving in the right direction, toward Apache Junction, the nearest city to the Superstition Mountains.
