I found this by searching for the first line of lyrics:The Garden Where the Praties Growhttp://bettylou.zzruss.com/thegardenwherethepratiesgrow.htm

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JScrL4bpJ9c

John McCormack sings the traditional Irish song “The Garden Where The Praties Grow” in this 1930 recording.

In the description of this YouTube video of the song it states that the song was written by Johnny Patterson in 1869.

    Lynn’s Notes:

This was one of my dad’s favourite songs. He’d sing it when he was in an excellent mood and when he was in the shower. I’ve always liked the tune and have always wondered… what the heck are “praties?”

At Dailyspud.com:the word pratie is an anglicisation of the Irish word for potatoes, prátaí, pronounced PRAW-tee

    Info found elsewhere:

Potatoes were the staple crop of Ireland before the potato famine struck.

Boiled or cooked potato in their skins; often dipped into milk and salted.
