    X …. which I was about to provide…. LOL.

Nice newspaper…. I’m glad you saved that clipping.Interesting to me, the way Julie sometimes only partially re-uses panels.

The issue of intelligent life elsewhere is moot. The chance of anything recognizable as alive and intelligent existing, even in the vastness of the universe, in a time overlapping ours, is invisibly small..The question, then, becomes whether there is intelligent life on THIS planet. Let us survey from our daily vantage point..There’s Joy in her kitchen. She’d like to bake a cake. But as she prepared, she got completely flummoxed over a problem of units. “Cups of flour”? How to deal with that. Is that an unrinse bra cup? Seems small. Is that a coffee cup? Tea cup? Pudding cup? She has a measuring cup, but she can’t seem to find a container that accepts exactly the amount in the measuring cup so she could use that with the flour. And now she’s been diverted by finding the last HoHo and wondering if Burl knows it’s there and whether she can eat it without Burl citing their agreement that the eater of the last pastry goes for more. .There’s Burl. Burl is on the hunt for what smells. It’s fiendishly difficult. Everywhere he looks, he can smell it strongly but can’t see the source. .And there’s Jerry. Jerry is almost totally incompetent in most realms, but he is one of the few men who know the differences among “Misses,” “Juniors,” “Junior Petite” (he can dream, can’t he), and Women’s Plus and how to decipher women’s clothing sizes. He’s a Women’s 18, but he has to take in the bust. On the other hand, he can’t figure out if he likes the toilet seat up or down. .So our search for intelligent life here has failed. Crustwood as a whole and Crustwoodians individually have failed our version of the Turing Test, a test of ability to exhibit intelligent behavior equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human.
