â Lonewolfâ Re your objection yesterday to multiple accounts.
I occasionally have cookie issues & canât access my paid account for a little while, but really want to put in my 2¢.
For such occasions I use CRL29P for a few days while I straighten it out. Itâs just a spare tire.
ChukLitl, using it like you do and someone using it to intentionally âmaskâ who they are is two different things. Also it allows spammers to continually put garbage posts on the strip sites here. Gocomics could put an end to more than one account from the same âputer. That would stop a lot of the spammer BS and not allow someone to post hateful comments under one account and act innocent under another.

The site administrators should remove obvious attack comments. Perhaps they do when they become aware of them. The jackassdroppings appeared on a holiday and it appears that the monitoring of flags was somewhat lax. After Iâd been to a couple of sites and saw the same comments, I began flagging as though they were spam, but the comments stayed up.
It did not help that someone decided the best response to the attack was to fire even more outrageous return salvos and spam those responses on several sites. That behavior almost certainly incited additional inflammatory comments from those antagonistic to the victim. Naturally, these comments also elicited angry responses.
I think that it also did not help that many well-meaning readers came to the aid of the victim either by posting encouraging comments or by posting counterattacking comments of their own. This not only escalated the furor, but Iâm afraid the show of support encouraged the victim to show less discretion in posting comments in the days following the 4th of July attacks. Ultimately, I believe the comments in that period caused the problem.
If this is happily resolved, I suggest we all mind the dictum, âFriends donât encourage friends who post attack (or counterattack) comments.â
Gâday Jason, Barb, Dry, Ottod, JFri, Lonewolf, Bjorn and all Megssieâs mates. Special greetings to Joe.
Somewhere aound the time I learnt to read I read some completely innocent story about a character called Wee Willie Winkie. The accompanying illustration showed someone in a nightgown and holding a lantern aloft and I must have concluded he was someone to avoid. There was nothing my parents could do to convince me Wee Willie Winkie wouldnât come looking for me after the I was put to bed.
When I matured a bit and reached the age of maybe 6 someone at school convinced me the character to watch out for was The Bogeyman who was much worse than Wee Willie. This resulted in true fear gripping me day and night until I was maybe 10 years old. Around Gingerâs age I got over all of it so any time now he may get some restful sleep too.
The expression seems to have survived though and I see it used sometimes as a sort of adjective, such as in âThe Bogeyman of household billsâ. How apt and a nightlight doesnât keep them at bay.
Sometime when I was small, I developed an irrational fear that I would be kidnapped in the night when everyone was asleep. When I confessed this to my mother, in that reassuring way mothers have, she said, âDonât worry about it. If someone takes you, as soon as they get you in the light and see what they have, theyâll bring you right back.â Somehow this was more reassuring than denying that it might actually happen.
