exoticdoc2Absolute rot! Even in the miniscule possibility that there is a god (or gods) everything that has been written (again in the unlikely chance of there being even a smigin of truth there) suggests that he, she, it or they are really vicious, evil and capricious psychopaths, so it probably wouldn’t make any difference what you believed or did, they’ll still screw you!
There may not be proof, but there absolutely is abundant evidence that can be observed – way too much for me to list here. For anyone truly interested, I would recommend:“Evidence That Demands a Verdict” by Josh McDowell“The Case for Christ” by Lee Strobel“Jesus on Trial” by David LimbaughThree different atheists, or at least skeptics,(a student, an investigative journalist and a lawyer) looked at the evidence and became Christians. Check it out! Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory (over sin and death) through our Lord Jesus Christ.
I’m an atheist. I never announce it in public because people go nuts trying to comprehend that there are people who don’t believe in a God. The longer I live the more proof I see that there is no higher being. I’ll be glad when the time comes that a person can say that they are an atheist and get the same reaction as a person who says they are a Lutheran, or a Baptist, or a Jew, or a Budist.
Just to be clear, I think what exoticdoc’s point is, is that your belief is just that, just a belief, and has no impact on reality. If the reality is that there is a God, then believing that there is none will not make him go away. The flips side is, of course, that if there is no God, then believing in him will not make him exist.

The nice thing about atheists is that there is always less of them as time goes by…
